Christopher Hupfeld

Christopher Hupfeld, M.D.


Dr. Hupfeld is board-certified in endocrinology and metabolism, and sees patients with all aspects of endocrinologic disease, in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. His practice includes diabetes mellitus (including insulin pump therapy), as well as diseases of the thyroid, parathyroid, adrenals, pituitary, sex steroids, endocrine hypertension, and osteoporosis.

Dr. Hupfeld obtained his M.D. from the University of Iowa College of Medicine in 1996, and his residency and clinical fellowship training were at the University of California (Davis). He completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at the University of California (San Diego) studying mechanisms of insulin resistance with Dr. Jerry Olefsky, and has been on the UCSD endocrinology faculty since 2003.

Dr. Hupfeld’s wife (Dr. Amy Matayoshi) is a nephrologist at Tri-City Hospital, and they live in Carlsbad with their 2 children Jonathan (9) and Midori (7).


Mickey Coffler

We are pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Mickey Coffler from Huntington Reproductive Center to the medical staff. Offering the only advanced infertility services in our area, he will be bringing procedures and techniques that are on the cutting edge of reproductive technology, including In Vitro Fertilization, Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis and MicroSort® Gender Selection.

Dr. Coffler’s extensive training includes attending medical school in Israel, OB/GYN residencies in Israel and Case Western Reserve/Cleveland Clinic Foundation, and an Infertility Fellowship at UC San Diego. He is a Carlsbad resident, married to Dr. Dayana Coffler, dentist in Vista, and they have 4 daughters in the Carlsbad schools.


Susan Scott

Susan Scott, DPM


Dr. Susan Scott obtained her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Arizona. She graduated as Valedictorian of the California School of Podiatric Medicine in 2005 and went on to complete a three year foot and ankle surgical residency program in Arizona within the Pima Indian Reservation and at the Maricopa County Hospital. She practices both conservative and surgical management of foot and ankle problems in all age groups and is particularly interested in wound care.

She is currently an associate to Michael Dinnel, DPM in Vista, California.
